Merchant Kin-no-suke Location
East of the Trading Port in Obama
Kin-no-suke's shop is east of the Trading Port lookout or northeast of the Obama Kakurega. He will be surrounded by guards and can either be attacked immediately or talked to.
Can Be Killed or Spared

 Speak to Kin-no-suke and give him the bandit letter from Dirty Dealing. Looting the letter in the room he leads you to complete the quest with him spared, granting all rewards except the Harrowing Wealth bow. Note: Imai Sokun prefers that you spare the Iron Hand members, obtaining the necessary information without killing them. |
| Attack Kin-no-suke (Assassination) |
 You can immediately kill Kin-no-suke and automatically receive all the quest rewards including the Harrowing Wealth bow. |
Merchant Kin-no-suke can be spoken to, and you can hand him the Bandit Letter provided you took it from the bandit camp during the Dirty Dealing objective. He leads you to a hidden room with the Letter Regarding Obama in it that you need to continue the Iron Hand questline.
Looting the letter finishes the Merchant Kin-no-suke portion of the Iron Hand board, and he will be marked as "Spared" in the in-game Objective Board. This is also Imai Sokun's preference, as he wants you to spare the Iron Hand members instead of killing them.
Otherwise, you can immediately attack him and his guards and loot the quest letter from his body instead, and in doing so you also get rewarded with the Harrowing Wealth bow.
You Can Still Kill Him After Giving Him the Bandit Letter
If you choose to give him the Bandit Letter, you can still kill him as he walks away to earn the Harrowing Wealth bow. This approach also lets you avoid fighting his guards.
Merchant Kin-no-suke Rewards
Dark Tea Ceremony Clue
The letter regarding Obama you get after sparing or killing Kin-no-suke is a clue towards the Dark Tea Ceremony you can hold through Sen-no-Rikyu to lure in the Iron Hand members to assassinate them. To proceed with this route, you must complete the Tea Bowls for Rikyu quest first.

Killing Merchant Kin-no-suke rewards you with XP, Mastery Points, a Rare Engraving, and the unique Harrowing Wealth bow. Sparing him instead will give the same set of rewards except for the Bow.
