Forgive the Shrine Raider to get into Yaya's good graces in Assassin's Creed Shadows (AC) during The Stray Dogs quest. Check out the effects of choosing to forgive or punish the Shrine Raider in this guide!

After you first talk to Yaya during The Stray Dogs quest, she will ask for your help in determining the fate of a monk they caught stealing from a shrine. You can choose to either forgive him or punish him.
Regardless of your choice, Yaya will choose to forgive the Shrine Raider. However, your choice has an impact on whether or not you recruit Yaya.
In order to recruit Yaya as an ally, you must choose the peaceful, forgiving choice at least twice during The Stray Dogs quest and Heads Will Roll.
At the end of the Heads Will Roll quest, if you chose “Killing them isn't justice”—siding with Yaya—and choose to forgive the Shrine Raider here, then Yaya will be able to join you at the end of The Stray Dogs quest.
If you chose to execute the soldier at the end of Heads Will Roll and choose to punish the Shrine Raider here, then Yaya will not be recruitable for the rest of your playthrough.
