Players can get Data Fragments by completing Anomalies in Assassin's Creed Shadows (AC Shadows). Read on to learn what Data Fragments are and how they are used to level up Projects.

Anomalies are weekly missions that randomly spawn around the map in Assassin's Creed Shadows. These missions have one objective which is usually to dispatch an enemy or collect items, rewarding the player with 1000 EXP and Data Fragments.
Anomalies can be viewed in the animus by going to the Projects Tab. Players can see a list of Anomalies, quest details, and how long until they are refreshed.
Data Fragments act as experience points for Projects - a battle pass system featured in this game. Data Fragments obtained will automatically go into your current active Project, levelling up when it meets the requirement.

For the time it takes, farming Anomalies and levelling up Projects can provide players with valuable resources and gear. Aside from Gold and Legendary Gear, players are also given Keys, a currency that can be used to purchase premium items in a dedicated shop.
