Should You Help NPCs?

Yes, Helping NPCs Unlocks Rewards

NPC

Helping NPCs would give you different kinds of rewards such as World Rumor, which reveals Points of interest, Vendors, Chests to your map.

Another reward is Scout Intel, which replenishes you +1 Scout for scouting quest objectives or smuggling stockpiles.

The scout intel option only appears if you have used scouts within the season. Otherwise, you will automatically get a world rumor as your reward.

How to Get More Scouts

Helping NPCs Does Not Always Give Rewards

NPC

Note that some NPCs do not give rewards, and sometimes their requests may be more about narrative progression or character development rather than offering tangible in-game benefits.

Other NPCs such as those who claim to be under the Fukui curse require you to refuse to help them in order to get a reward.
