Examine the Dead Body
After completing the Secrets of the Blade quest, head to the Engyoji sub-region in Harima, located on the western part of the map. Near Mitsunodo Temple, go southeast to find Maniden Hall. There, you'll discover a bloodied corpse to examine.
Find and Chase the Killer
The killer (Yagoro) leaves an obvious trail of blood, footprints, and more bodies leading north up the path towards the hostile POI, Hideyoshi Camp.
However, you do not have to enter the camp, and instead can find him by the western end of the POI. He will spot you as you approach, then flee, triggering a very short chase ending at Mitsunodo Hall.
Beat the Shinobi in a Duel
After catching up and speaking to him, he will challenge you to a duel. Bring him down to around 25% HP, and he will surrender. He then asks you to eliminate the samurai leader nearby in exchange for his information.
Assassinate the Lead Samurai
Directly south of Mitsunodo Hall is the Jyujiin Courtyard where the samurai target is located. He is in the westernmost building, which is also the largest building in the area. After eliminating the samurai, the game will immediately transtition to a cutscene with Yagoro, the shinobi.
A Blade in the Dark Rewards
Yagoro Joins the League
During the last cutscene, you can ask Yagoro to join the League. You do not need to make any specific choices here or in previous quests to recruit him, making him a guaranteed ally as long as you ask him to join you.
