The Hunters of Kyonyo Locations and Rewards

The Hunters of Kyonyo is a quest board in Assassin's Creed Shadows (AC Shadows) where you have to kill five bounty hunters in Kii. Read on to learn how to unlock the Hunters of Kyonyo quest board and see a list of all assassination targets, their rewards, and locations on an interactive map.

Icon How to Use
Zoom In and Out Zoom In / Zoom Out
Allows you to zoom in and out of the interactive map by pressing the + and - buttons.
Fullscreen Toggle Fullscreen
Press to view the interactive map in fullscreen. Press it again to close the fullscreen view.
Pin Name Toggle Show Pin Names
Use these buttons to reveal or hide the names of each map pin.
Acquired Pins Visibility Toggle Show / Hide Acquired Pins
Use these buttons to toggle the visibility of map pins you marked as "acquired".
Search Mode Toggle Search Mode Toggle
This button will display a search bar which you can use to search for an individual pin by its name.
Icon Mode Toggle Icon Mode Toggle
In Search Mode, this button will toggle you back to Icon Mode, removing the search bar and displaying the icons again.
Reset Marked Pins Reset Marked Pins
Use this option to reset all map pins marked that you've marked as acquired. Confirm the prompt that appears to reset all marked pins.
Reset Marked Pins Counter
Tracks the number of pins you have of a certain type. The pin type shown is set to the page and currently cannot be changed; however, all pin type counters can be viewed by clicking the checklist icon on the right side.
Reset Marked Pins View All Counters
This icon is found on the right side of the Counter. When a map has more than one pin type, click this icon to see Counters for all pin types.

All Hunters of Kyonyo Locations

Target Location
Inumaru

Can be found in the Yakushi Onsen in central Kii. To reach this location, you can fast travel to the Yunotani Kakurega and head north from there. If you don't have it unlocked, the nearest viewpoint will be the Mount Oto Watchtower.
Kamakichi

When it's day time, he can be found begging at the market square north of the Monk Houses in Saika (west coast of Kii). At night, he will visit the Monk Houses instead.
Toro

You'll have to talk to the head monk in Koyasan (northern Kii) before setting up an ambush for Toro in the Monk's District. Once the ambush is set, Toro will spawn in at night.
Shishi-o

Can be found in the Kumano Naichi Taisha in the Kumano Sanzan sub-region of southeastern Kii. The nearest fast travel point will be the Kumano Kakurega to the shrine's southeast.
Tsuchi-Gumo

Found in the largest building of Akagi Fort in northeast Kii. Do note that this target will only spawn in after you've killed the first four targets of this objective board.

All Yamabushi Imposter Rewards

5000 XP and Ability Unlocks

The Hunters of Kyonyo Rewards

Completing the Hunters of Kyonyo objective board will reward you with 5000 XP as well as the final ability upgrade unlocks for both the Cyclone Blast (Kusarigama) and Disabling Strike (Naginata) abilities.

XP, Mastery Points, Unique Weapons, and Mon from Each Target

Aside from the full objective board completion rewards, you will also get unique rewards for killing each of the Hunters looking for Kyonyo as shown below:

How to Unlock the Hunters of Kyonyo

Kill the Ronin at the Crossroads Ambush Site in Kii

To start the Hunters of Kyonyo, head on over to the unmarked crossroads west of the Kamimisu Heights Viewpoint in Kii. You'll find an group of dead monks there with a Ronin (at half HP) sifting through the corpses. Kill the Ronin to get the Come to Yunomine quest item that triggers and reveals the Hunters of Kyonyo quest board.

This entire quest board can be finished as soon as you finish Mibuno Showdown and enter Act 2. However, do note that since the quest trigger is in Kii, it is recommended to start this quest after reaching at least level 30~35+.

What are the Hunters of Kyonyo?

Bounty Hunters Trying to Kill Kyonyo

If you recall, Kyonyo is the monk that you meet during Act 1 when looking to assassinate the Shinbakufu target, Wada Koretake. Later on, you'll discover that he's a wanted man, pursued by this group called the hunters of Kyonyo.
