Merchant Tamao Location
Located in Kyoto, Yamashiro
Merchant Tamao runs a brewery in Kyoto, Yamashiro Region. It can be found west of Honpoji Temple, which does not appear with a temple icon on the map because it does not have any Lost Pages.
Travel to the South Kyoto Kakurega and travel a short distance north. You will find him locked in his warehouse, which requires players to complete the quest Tamao's Movements.

Break the Jars to Lure Him out
Using observation on the nearby crowd, Naoe will remark that she should make noise to draw Merchant Tamao's attention.
Use observation to highlight the breakable jars. Breaking these jars will anger Merchant Tamao, causing him to exit the warehouse.
Take the Letter
While Merchant Tamao is angered, you can obtain the letter containing information regarding the Iron Hand's whereabouts by either assassinating him or sneaking past him and picking up the letter inside the warehouse. Naoe remarks that the merchants dont have to be killed, but this does not change the rewards of this quest.
You Do Not Have To Kill Him
With patience, players don't have to kill Merchant Tamao to get the information you need. This is mentioned by Imai Sokun when you meet him and he instructs you to leave them alive.
Merchant Tamao Rewards
Letter Regarding Kyoto
If the players assassinate or knock out Merchant Tamao before picking up the letter, it will automatically be added to their inventory. Otherwise, it can be picked up from a table to the right of the warehouse entrance. This letter contains the whereabouts of the Iron Hand, but players will need to confront the rest of the merchants to get the exact location.

Players receive 2000 XP, 280 Mon, and the Zashiki building for their hideout. Building the Zashiki increases Ration Efficiency by 20%.
