 Merchant Kanta can be found in his house, the Rice Shipyard, or along the road between these two points. |

You can pick up the message in Kanta's house to spare him. |

You can find Kanta alone in his room from evening where you can assassinate him. |
 |
During the day, Kanta can be found in the Rice Shipyard hostile area. |
Merchant Kanta can be found in the Otsu Upper District at the Mouth of Seta, whether or not you have done his quest Missing Ship.
If you have completed the Missing Ship quest prior to this search for Merchant Kanta, you should have the hints telling that his naval operation is currently being run out of Otsu Port.
You can find Merchant Kanta moving from his house by the port to the Rice Shipyard (a hostile area in Otsu) and back throughout the day. We recommend waiting until the evening and assassinating him inside his home where he is barely guarded if you want to kill him.
If you don't want to kill him, it's recommended to visit his house during the day while he's out in order to get the letter with a hint to Iron Hand's location.
Can Be Killed or Spared

| Sneak into Merchant Kanta's house in Otsu and read the message inside his room | Merchant Kanta leaves Otsu with his guards and is automatically spared. This locks you out of the Kanabo of Blood Gluttony weapon for Yasuke. |
| Find and assassinate Merchant Kanta in Otsu | Merchant Kanta is killed, which is against what Imai Sokun requested. You will get the Kanabo of Blood Gluttony together with the base rewards. |
| Find the Iron Hand and eliminate him | Merchant Kanta, along with the remaining merchants, is automatically spared. This locks you out of the Kanabo of Blood Gluttony weapon for Yasuke. |
You can choose to spare Merchant Kanta by reading the message inside his room near the port to complete the quest peacefully. However, you will not receive the Kanabo of Blood Gluttony weapon as it is only obtainable if Merchant Kanta is assassinated.

Hint to the Iron Hand's Location
Regardless if you spared or killed Merchant Kanta, you will get a message that contains hints on the Iron Hand's whereabouts in the Tamba region.

Killing Merchant Kanta rewards you with XP, Mastery Points, a Rare Engraving, and the unique Kanabo of Blood Gluttony weapon. Sparing him instead will give the same set of rewards except for the Kanabo.
