Seasons change in Assassin's Creed Shadows (AC Shadows), introducing new and unique features. Read on to learn how to change seasons, how long a season lasts for, as well as how season effects and resets work!
How to Change Seasons
Wait for the Season Meter to Become Half Full or Full Circle
In the top right of the World Menu, a compass displays the current season, with a meter that fills clockwise in white as days pass, tracking seasonal progress.
Reaching the South (S) notch marks mid-season, transitioning into its second half (e.g., early Winter to late Winter). A full seasonal change (e.g., Winter to Spring) happens when the meter loops back to the North (N) notch.
Fast Travel or Advance the Season via the World Map
Once the season meter reaches either the South (S) or North (N) notches, you'll be able to advance the season by either fast travelling or by holding the Change Season button in the World Map screen.
How Long is Each Season?
Full Seasons Can Last for 3 Hours
Based on testing, a half-circle season can last up to 90 real world minutes. This means that a full season (winter, spring, summer, and fall), can last up to a max of 180 minutes each or 3 real world hours.

Seasons Can Impact Stealth and Traversal Mechanics
Seasons can impact gameplay, especially for stealth as Naoe. Summer rainstorms and winter snowstorms reduce the enemy's visibility, making it easier to sneak undetected.
However, winter also brings deep snow in terrain making you sprint slower, and freezes lakes, preventing swimming or leaps of faith into water.
Seasonal Resets

As seasons transition to their next half (meter at S) or the next full season (meter back at N), the game resets or respawns certain features.
Get New Contracts
Contracts, one of the best ways to earn XP and resources, get reset when seasons transition. This means you have another three contracts available to accomplish within the newest season's timeframe.
Chests and Enemies Respawn in Hostile POIs
Enemies in Hostile POIs respawn, together with the normal chests in the area, giving you more opportunities to start up some action, earn XP, and hoard loot.
Scouts Reset and Smuggle Goods Back to the Hideout
The amount of scouts you have to send out on missions reset, replenishing your manpower. Additionally, any goods tagged for smuggling before the season transition will be delivered back to your hideout.
