AC Shadows Should You Spare or Kill the Gamemaker

Sparing the Gamemaker in Assassin's Creed Shadows (AC Shadows) gives better rewards than killing her. Learn about the outcomes of both choices in this part of The Butterfly Collector questline and which butterfly name to choose in this guide!

Chosen Butterfly Name Has No Effect

I name you O-cho (Miss Butterfly). The Gamemaker accepts the name.
I name you Ageha (Swallowtail Butterfly). The Gamemaker accepts the name.
I name you Monshiro (Small White Butterfly). The Gamemaker accepts the name.

After finding out that the woman at the very beginning of The Butterfly Collector questline is also your last target, you will find her in the same spot as the Gamemaker. She will admit being one of the Butterfly Collectors, despite being another victim of the group, and asks to choose a name for her.

The butterfly name that you will choose will not affect future events, so you can freely choose one that you think suits her best.

Sparing the Gamemaker Gives Better Rewards

Choice Result
You must pay for your actions. The Gamemaker becomes hostile and will take the name you chose to her grave.
You must start anew.
(Canon Choice)		 The Gamemaker gives her thanks for giving her a name and starts a new life with it.

Your choice of sparing or killing the Gamemaker will have no consequences on the ending and outside the quest line. However, you will receive a bonus reward called Butterfly of Benevolence for Yasuke and Naoe if you choose to spare her.

Should You Spare or Kill the Gamemaker?

Spare Her for a Canon Choice and for the Amulets

Sparing the Gamemaker in this encounter is the better choice as it is the Canon choice and is more rewarding. You will miss out on the Butterfly of Benevolence reward if you kill the Gamemaker.

・Ebisu's Gamble (Bow)

The Ebisu's Gamble Bow is obtainable on either choice, while the Butterfly of Benevolence Amulet is only given on the outcome where the Gamemaker lives.
