You can use your Scouts to clear regional alerts in order to remove a character's wanted status from the region. The number of scouts available is indicated on the bottom left corner of the map, while the number of scouts required to clear the alert is indicated in the opposite side of the screen.

Sending Scouts to clear alerts is unlocked by upgrading your Hideout, specifically the Kakurega building. Upgrade your Kakurega building after building it to Level 2 in order to allow your scouts to clear alerts when either Naoe or Yasuke become wanted.
Best Hideout Building Priority

If either Yasuke or Naoe is wanted, players can switch to the other character to progress missions without being attacked on sight. Note that if both characters are wanted in the same area, then you will be attacked regardless of who you play as.
Characters are freed of their wanted status when the seasons change in Assassin's Creed Shadows. Pay attention to the cycle of the seasons before spending resources to remove the wanted status.

Players will no longer be able to casually walk through major cities. Guards will attack the player on sight, forcing them into combat or stealth while traversing the region.

Aside from increased patrols, players will also see the addition of Guardians to enemy groups defending Castles. These enemies have a ton of health and will usually appear in groups of 3.
All Castle Locations and Rewards

Castles will have multiple areas with Alarm Bells when you try clearing them out. If you fail to prevent an enemy guard from ringing the Alarm Bell, your character will become Wanted in the region. You can destroy Alarm Bells to prevent a regional alert from being sent out.
