What to do with Red Barrels

Throw kunai at red barrels to make them explode, dealing damage and distracting enemies in Assassin's Creed Shadows (AC Shadows). Read on to learn how to carry red barrels as Yasuke, and what happens when they explode.

Make Them Explode With an Attack

Throw a Kunai to Trigger Explosions

Red Barrels instantly explode when attacked. Naoe can throw her kunai and shurikens at red barrels to trigger an explosion from a distance.

The explosion from red barrels will take out enemies in a short radius. This is ideal for players as you can dispatch large groups of enemies with one attack.

Carry Red Barrels as Yasuke

Carry Red Barrels as Yasuke

Yasuke can carry barrels by approaching and interacting with them. This can be done to reposition barrels.

Explosions Can Clear Obstacles

Old Kofun Trigger Red Barrel To Clear Exit

Barrels placed next to piles of rocks can be triggered to clear out debris in Kofuns. Look out for these barrels in places such as the exit of the Old Kofun and the entrance to the Makino Kurumazaka Kofun.

What Happens When Red Barrels Explode?

Guards Will Investigate Explosions

Nearby enemies will investigate the explosion

Nearby guards will be alerted of the explosion and walk towards the site. Be sure to trigger these barrels from a distance and sneak away to avoid detection

Damages the Player if They Are in Range

Players take damage from explosions

Players caught in the radius will take damage from the explosion. Be sure to trigger these barrels with a ranged attack.
