Completing Byleth's paralogue increases his Bond Level cap from 10 to 20, opening up the option to learn new skills and gain the Sword of the Creator.
Emblem Byleth Engage Skills, Abilities, and Engage Weapon
Much like Chapter 11 in Fire Emblem Three Houses, your secondary objective is protecting the crystals around the tomb. Byleth's units will focus on destroying them, and up to about 2 crystals can be lost to gain an Elixir and a Talisman. However, losing more will give just the Talisman and no reward will be given if too many crystals are broken.
Once you reach Chapter 15: Dancer in the Ruins, the Sacred Tomb becomes available on the world map and unlocks Paralogue: The Instructor.

| 1 | Protect the crystals from enemies. Byleth's forces will focus on destroying the crystals rather than direct combat. This means they won't target your units during Enemy Phase but will counterattack. |
| 2 | Head toward the stairs. Your units should be moving downward to also kill off any enemies attacking the crystals there. You may choose to group your forces together on one side or split them, depending on the strength of your army. The ranged units by the stairs will only attack when you get within their range. |
| 3 | Prepare for your assault on Byleth. Once you reach the stairs, the enemies will start warping the units surrounding Byleth to continue breaking crystals. Make sure to leave some units to deal with them. Byleth will also use Goddess Dance and start moving to attack. |
| 4 | Defeat Byleth with your strongest units. Byleth has two Revival Stones so use your strongest attacks against him. He has lower Def than Res as well, so focus on using Bows and melee units. |
Byleth can adapt against whatever units you send against him. By default, he will use the Sword of the Creator to deal with Bows used against him. He'll also use Vajra-Mushti to break any ranged units, so try to beat him within two turns of his first attack. Armored and Cavalry units should also watch out since he has Blutgang which deals Mag damage. Since he can move about, make sure he leaves his Protection Tile so you can Break him with Lances.

I lost 3 crystals on Maddening but got Elixir + Talisman. So this article is incorrect in that you can only lose 2 crystals.
