Unit Stats Explained

What is Bld? (Build)

Fire Emblem Engage Build Weapon Weight

Build prevents heavy weapons from slowing attack speed (Spd). Each weapon has a set weight (Wt stat), which decreases the attack speed stat. Weapons with a higher weight stat tend to decrease the attack speed more. However, if that unit has a high Bld stat, then attack speed is less punished for the weight.

In Fire Emblem Engage, it's possible to have the Bld stat grow via level up.

What is Lck? (Luck)

Fire Emblem Engage Luck Stat

Luck lowers the rate of critical hits from enemies. The higher your Lck stat, the less likely you are to receive a critical hit from an enemy (which means lesser untimely deaths overall). Lck is a stat that hardly grows, as "unlucky" units tend to retain their low Lck stat.

What is Spd? (Speed)

Fire Emblem Engage Attack Speed

The Speed stat determines a unit's attack speed. Without exaggeration, it's the most important stat in the Fire Emblem series, as it determines if units can launch a follow-up attack after an enemy's counterattack. Additionally, speed also factors into a unit's Avo (Avoidance Rate). Units in classes such as Pegasus Knight and Thief tend to have a high Spd stat.

What is HP? (Overall Health)

HP is your overall health stat, wherein your unit retreats from the battle once it reaches 0. If you're playing on Classic Mode, permadeath is enabled, meaning your unit will die/become unplayable once their HP reaches 0, so make every choice count (particulary for your more offensive units).

Some skills can only be launched after losing a certain amount of HP, such as Ike's Brave General.

What is Str? (Strength)

Strength determines the damage dealt by physical attacks. The higher your Str stat, the more physical damage you deal to enemies. Strength is predominantly used by most unit types; the primary exception being magic/tome-users.

What is Mag? (Magic)

Magic determines the damage dealt by magic attacks and the power of Staves, such as the HP recovered by Heal, and distance covered by Rescue. This stat is primarily used by Mystical units and staff wielders.

What is Dex? (Dexterity)

Dexterity affects hit rate and frequency of critical hits. It's an important stat to raise, as enemies' Avo (Avoid Rate) increases greatly in the later stages. Swordmasters and Snipers would particularly benefit from having a high Dex stat.

What is Def? (Defense)

Defense determines how much damage is reduced from physical attacks. The higher your Def stat, the more damage you can tank. Heavy weapon classes such as Lance Armor and Great Knight tend to have a high Def stat.

What is Res? (Resistance)

Resistance determines how much damage is reduced from magic attacks. The higher your Res stat, the more damge you can take from magical attacks such as from tomes. Aside from tome and magic users, Pegasus Knights also have a high Res stat.

What is Mov? (Movement)

Movement determines how many spaces a unit can move. Factors such as terrain and unit type affect this stat, but it's also a unit stat that hardly grows upon level up.
