Advantageous Weapons Can Inflict Break Status Effect

Break Status will prevent an enemy from counterattacking

Fire Emblem Engage Break Mechanic

By landing an attack with a weapon that has an advantage over the enemy unit's weapon, you can inflict the Break status upon the enemy unit. A unit inflicted with the Break status is unable to counterattack until after their next attack turn, so it's helpful in battle to be familiar with the Weapon Triangle.

Combat Arts Are Advantageous Against Bows, Tomes, and Knives

Combat Arts has a unilateral advantage over three types of weapons; bows, tomes, and knives, allowing you to inflict break on users of these weapons. However, each of these other three weapon types still offer some combat advantage, despite not having triangle advantage.

Bows are effective on Flying Units

While not related to the Weapon Triangle, bows are effective on Flying Units, allowing you to do extra damage and quickly take out airborne enemies.

Tomes beat Armored Units

While enemy unites with the Armored typing are immune to Break, they generally have a low Res stat, and are thus weak to Tomes.

Knives inflict Poison

Knives on the other hand are not particularly good against any one type of unit or weapon user, but will inflict Poison on enemies, which makes them take more damage from the next attack. Poison can also stack, so Knife wielding units are very effective at supporting your teammates for taking down bulky units.

Emblem Corrin and Roy's Weapons reverse the Weapon Triangle

FE Engage Lancereaver

When engaged, Emblem Corrin's and Roy's Engage Weapons have the additional effect of reversing the Weapon Triangle.

As such, Corrin's Dual Katanas and Roy's Lancereaver are instead strong against lances and weak against axes.
