FE Engage Dark Map
Dark maps only allow you to see a few spaces around your allies and the light of torches and bonfires. This darkness even clouds the minimap on the bottom right of the screen.

Enemies lurk within the darkness and will only become visible in the light, so you need to proceed with caution.

Bonfire Light Reveals Surroundings

Fire Emblem Engage Bonfires

You can illuminate more parts of the map by lighting a bonfire using a torch. The bonfire lights up more spaces surrounding it, extending your vision of the battlefield.
