Nel joins Alear's party during at the start the Fell Xenologue DLC storyline. Alongside Nil, Nel is one of the characters that introduces Alear a continent of Elyos far different from the one he has grown accustomed to.

Recruited Upon Completion of the Fell Xenologue.

While Nel is playable during the events of the Fell Xenologue, they can't actually be customized or reclassed until they officially join the party after the Fell Xenologue credits roll.
