Getting Started in Fire Emblem Engage |

If you are new to the Fire Emblem series, it is recommended to select the Normal difficulty and Casual mode at the beginning of the game. Casual Mode disables permadeath where your units are gone for good if they fall in battle.
If you started playing on a higher difficulty, fret not! you can lower your game's difficulty by going to your room at the Somniel!
▶︎ Difficulty Level Differences
As the protagonist, Alear will participate in all the battles you will encounter. The game ends if Alear falls in combat so it is best to focus on strengthening Alear through levelling up, training, and updated equipment.
When in combat, try to revolve your strategy around Alear to gain as much EXP as possible.
Try to do Skirmishes and other side-quests if you wish to take a break from progressing through the main story. Clearing these will reward you with EXP, Skill Points, and materials to help strengthen your units and prepare them for the main story.
You can also reroll for skirmishes if you're aiming for a specific type of resource to refine some of your gear or cook some food to bond with your allies!
Prepare your units for the next big battle by sharing meals with allies at Cafe Terrace and provide them with stat buffs. You can also train your units at the Arena to earn extra EXP and Skill Points.
After finishing a battle in the main story, try to explore the Somniel do the different minigames and other activities. In between battles, item drops throughout the Somniel will be refreshed and you can do the minigames again.

Fire Emblem Battle Tips |

You'll want to make sure that units are placed in regards to their respective stats and unit type when moving forward. Archers are strong against fliers while mages are strong against armored units. Armored units are strong against physical attacks and melee units are strong against archers. Make use of unit's tactical advantage to come out on top of battles!
Chain Guard is a mechanic that is exclusive to Qi Master type units. They can block an attack that is directed at an ally unit that is beside them. Use this to protect your backline units or your armored units when near mages.
Using Engage requires building up the Engage gauge first to maximum. However, once you have used Engage mode and the effects has expired, you'll need to build up the gauge again to sync with your emblem. With the Emblem Energy on the ground, you can instantly replenish your Emblem Gauge to maximum with one use.

When moving your units, you will see tiles highlighted in red. These represent the areas where the enemy can attack you so be mindful where you end your unit's turn. For new players like me, it is good to do skirmishes, because you can gather resources like gold, steel, silver and so, BUT if you just use specific units to resolve your battles, the Skirmish difficulty will scale based on your most leveled unit. So, it is good to have a balance on how you use the units for your own strategy.
