Poison Mechanic Explained

In Fire Emblem Engage, the Poison mechanic is unique to the Knife weapon type and increases damage taken by enemies. Read on to learn more about how Poison works, as well as how to inflict and cure poison!

Poison Status Effect Explained

Poisoned Enemies Take Extra Damage

Without Poison With Poison

Enemy takes 8 Damage per hit

Enemy takes 9 Damage per hit

Poisoned units take additonal damage from other attacks. Inflicting Poison is a good strategy of wearing down enemy defenses, especially if you can apply several stacks of it. Be warned that the same applies to your units, so avoid getting too much of this status.

Poisoned Enemy

Poisoned units (either the enemies' or your own) are denoted with a purple skull icon beside their health bar while the number of stacks are shown by the number of X's above it.

How to Inflict Poison on Enemies

Use Knives

Zelkov Portrait

Classes like the Thief and Wolf Knight are able to use Knives. While the Knife weapon type has low damage output, it makes up for it with its ability to inflict Poison to enemies on hit.

Repeated Knife Attacks Increases Damage Taken

Poison Attack

Each stack of Poison increases damage taken by 1 for every hit. Additional stacks can be applied by with more rounds of Knife attacks. Take advantage of this against sturdier enemies and Bosses to wear them down!

How to Cure Poison

Use Antitoxin or Restore Staff

Poison Cure

The Poison status remains until the end of the stage or until it is cured. Use the consumable item Antitoxin that can be purchased at the Item Shop for 400G in the Somniel or the Restore Staff.

If one of your units suffer from the Poison status, try to cure it as soon as you can, especially if you are playing on the harder difficulties or Classic Mode.
