The protagonist of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the male version of Byleth is returning as a somewhat playable character in Fire Emblem Engage. Units equipped with Byleth's Emblem Ring will be able to sync with him in battle. Byleth is one of the many past protagonists of the series returning as Emblem heroes in Engage.

Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude Coming in DLC

Fire Emblem Engage DLC

The leaders of the three student houses of the Garreg Mach Monastery, Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude are all also returning in Fire Emblem Engage as Emblems. In Wave 1 of the paid Expansion Pass DLC, you'll receive the Emblem Bracelet. The bracelet contains the Emblems of Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude simultaneously.

The three heroes are available upon the game's release, as that's when Wave 1 of the Expansion Pass launches as well.

Differences Between Engage vs. Three Houses

No Battalions

As of the released footage thus far, battalions don't seem to be a returning feature in Fire Emblem Engage. During battle in Three Houses, you could deploy battalions to assigned units in order to assist and provide stat bonuses to the unit.
