Fire Emblem Engage is the newest mainline game of the Fire Emblem series. Read on to learn everything about the new Emblem Rings, new gameplay features, and the changes from its predecessors.
List of Contents
Emblem Rings are key items in Fire Emblem Engage's story. There are 12 Emblem Rings the player must collect throughout the story, with each Emblem Ring able to unlock a past hero from the Fire Emblem series, such as Marth, Celica, and Sigurd. Each Emblem Ring and their corresponding hero provide different variations of stat boosts and special combat skills when synced in battle.
At the Ring Chamber in the Somniel home base, you can deepen your bond with the Emblem heroes in order to inherit more skills from the Emblem Rings.
Meanwhile, you can also forge Bond Rings at the Ring Chamber. Bond Rings provide stat increases, but you could also combine Bond Rings to strengthen their buffs.
In combat, your Engage Meter will gradually fill up over time. Once filled, you can engage with your Emblem Ring in order to unlock Engage Weapons, Engage Skills, and Engage Attacks for three turns. This temporary powerup helps deal devastating blows to the opponent. Outside of combat, some Engage Skills also alter or help you traverse battlefield to your advantage.
At the Somniel home base, there are non-combat minigames you can take part in. At the Training Yard, you can take part in Strength Training in order to receive a temporary stat buff. There is also a rail-shooter Wyvern Riding minigame.
In Fire Emblem Engage, unit types make the different units on the battlefield even more distinctive by giving these units special attacks and abilities. Units are classified into different typings, such as Flying, Armored, Backup (sword, lance, and axe users), Mystical (tome users), and more.
Weapons wielded by the different units come with certain advantages and disadvantages over other weapons. This means that it's crucial to choose a weapon/unit that has an advantage over the opposing unit.
The new Break Status is inflicted on an enemy when you land an attack with a weapon that has advantage. Broken units cannot launch a counterattack until after their next attack, which gives you a wider window for your offensive.
Gold can now be invested in different countries from the in game bulletin board. After investing a set amount the investment level for that country will increase and a reward will be recieved. The higher the investment level the higher chance of rare enemy spawns in that area, which increases the amount of gold and exp gained, as well as increasing the materials gained by traveling in that area.

Making its first appearance, the continent of Elyos is the main setting for Fire Emblem Engage. The land is divided into five realms; the Holy Land of Lythos, the snow-covered Elusia, the dessert country Solm, the heavily fortified Brodia, and the peaceful Firene.
A floating island within the Holy Land of Lythos is the Somniel, your base of operations in between battles. It's here where you'll find the allies you've made along your journey, the Emblem Rings and their corresponding heroes, and venues to train for upcoming battles.
