Units Recruited Via Talking

You need to speak to some characters in order to unlock them as playable units. Units in the Paralogues side missions can be lost as a playable unit if you fail to save them during the mission.

Unit Recruitment Method
Jean Jean Available in: Paralogue: Budding Talent
・Just needs to survive to be a playable character
・Talk to Jean to recruit him within the battle itself.
Anna Anna Available in: Paralogue: Mysterious Merchant
・Talk to Anna to recruit her within the battle itself.
・If you don't talk to her during the battle, she'll still ask to join your ranks after the battle.
Jade Jade Available in: Chapter 9
・Talk to Jade to recruit her within the battle itself.
・Only Alear and Diamant can recruit her mid-battle.
Seadall Seadall Available in: Chapter 15
・Talk to Seadall with Alear after clearing all enemies to recruit him.
Lindon Lindon Available in: Chapter 18
・Lindon is initially hostile.
・It's possible to kill him instead of recruiting him.
・He can be recruited with Alear, Ivy, or Hortensia
Saphir Saphir Available in: Chapter 19
・Talk to Saphir with Alear, Diamant, or Alcryst.

Look out for speech bubbles that denote recruitable units

If you see a speech bubble icon above a unit, move to a tile adjacent to the unit in order to speak to them. Keep a look out for these speech bubbles in order not to miss out on (or worse, eliminate) potential units.

Some units can only be recruited when talked to by a specific character, such as Jade, who can only be recruited by either Alear or Diamant.

What is Recruitment?

Add Members to Your Party

Fire Emblem Engage Recruitment

Recruitment in Fire Emblem Engage allows you to add more units to your party, expanding your roster of playable characters. You can then deploy your recruited characters in battle to take advantage of their unique skills and abilities.

Units have their own strengths and weaknesses so it's best to make use of all the characters you've recruited, instead of just focusing on select favorites.
