The Rewind mechanic allows you to undo your combat actions in Fire Emblem Engage. Learn how to use Rewind, if Rewind affects level ups, and when to use Rewind!
List of Contents
The following article may contain spoilers from the game's story events! |
In Fire Emblem Engage, the Rewind mechanic returns as the Draconic Time Crystal, which becomes available in Chapter 4: A Land in Bloom.
Simply select Time Crystal from the menu, then a list of actions (both in the player's and the enemy's phases) will appear in chronological order. Use the Up and Down buttons on the D-Pad to select which action you want to rewind back to, and confirm with the A button.
While the crystal is obtained on Chapter 4, due to story scenarios, the crystal becomes temporarily unavailable in Chapter 11. However, there are no other story specific events where you will lose access to the crystal beyond this point.
On Normal Difficulty, there's no limit to the number of times you can rewind in a battle. This makes the battles easy and every move can be reverted if the results are unsatisfactory. This allows you to experiment with moves and test the limits of each character with little to no risk.
When playing ong Hard and Maddening difficulty, you start off with only a maximum of 10 charges to use in every battle. This prevents you from playing too recklessly and will force you to think about the placements of each units to avoid wasting rewinds.
▶︎ Difficulty Level Differences and How to Change
Although the rewind mechanic has a limit in the number of times you can use it in battle in harder difficulties, it does not come with any discernable disadvantages or intended consequences. Feel free to use it up during battle (but in calculated measures, of course).
Rewind Stats Tested Methods | |
---|---|
Rewinding, doing a different move to kill the enemy | ✗ |
Rewinding, killing a different enemy | ✗ |
The above are tested methods of the rewind mechanic. Rewind does not affect level ups. Using Rewind after a level up will not alter the stat growth of a unit upon levelling up, even if it fights a different battle.
▶︎ How to Reroll Stats on Level Up
Rewinding is helpful when you have made a mistake like putting your unit in a vulnerable position. Use the Time Crystal to place your unit in the perfect and advantageous position.
The Time Crystal has limited uses but you can use it to try out different strategies on the fly. If you encounter a particularly difficult opponent, try another approach!
