Chapter 11: Joins in the Latter Half of the Battle
Kagetsu is recruited in Chapter 11: Retreat. He joins Alear and the rest of your party in the latter half of the battle together with Ivy and Zelkov.

Kagetsu's initial class, Swordmaster, is underwhelming for his great initial stats. It is highly recommended to reclass him to a class with a higher Str growth like Wyvern Knight or Warrior.
You will receive Emblem Ike after two chapters when you recruit Kagetsu, so you can give him Axe Proficiency for a strong reclass. If you want him to reclass to a Warrior, make sure to give him Emblem Lyn for Bow Proficiency first

Alacrity perfectly synergizes with Kagetsu's high base speed and growth rate to ensure he attacks not only attacks first, but does so twice. Marth's Perceptive allows Kagetsu to avoid counter attacks from dangerous units when acting as the agressor.
Speedster pairs well with either Alacirty or Perceptive ensuring they remain active as Kagetsu cuts through enemies and is a great early skill pick if his Spd is not quite up to par yet.

Kegatsu alone has an overall impressive stat growth when it comes to offense and defense. Pairing him with either Lyn or Marth can amplify Kegatsu's potential as a powerful offensive unit by raising his Spd and evasion against enemies.

After clearing Chapter 22, players unlock The Connector Paralogue and can subsequently unlock the Pact Ring. This essentially acts as Fire Emblem Engage's S-Rank Support and romance route.
Alear can then give the ring to Kagetsu once they have attained an A-Rank in support to view a special cutscene, and unlock a page in the reference about the life they lived together.
Kagetsu's Memento
Kagetsu's hair band, made out of silk from Pale Sands. He gave it to me as a symbol of our love.
Apart from obtaining an exclusive ending with Kagetsu after giving the Pact Ring, players can also head to Alear's room and check the small table next to their bed to find a memento from him.
While the memento serves no purpose in combat whatsoever unlike the Merc Whistle in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, it further contextualizes the paired ending selected by the player.
