How to Recruit Alear

Starting Character

Alear, being the protagonist of Fire Emblem Engage, is available at the start of the game. Awoken from a deep slumber, Alear becomes the successor to the Divine Dragon and masters the summoning of Emblems to keep the peace.

Gender and Customization

Players can choose to make Alear either male or female, alongside limited customization of their outfits.

It is important to remember that Alear isn't just a unit, but is also the main defense objective for a majority of the battles in the game. Hence, skills like Unyielding++ and Hold Out+++ hold great value for keeping Alear alive.

Alternatively, Alear can also function as an evasive tank, as he boasts high stat growths in both Speed and Dexterity. Sword Power 5 gives him a boost to damage, while Perceptive+ offsets the Avo penalty.

Marth takes advantage of Alear's high Spd to maximize his Avo. Giving Alear the ability to act as an evasive initiator.

Although Alear has high growth rates overall, he suffers slightly in Bld. This can be offset by using Leif and his Build + inheritable skills. This allows Alear to wield heavier weapons without worrying about losing initiative.

As mentioned above, Alear is a key unit, and having him/her die means Game Over. If you find that Alear is too soft for the battle ahead, Roy's Hold Out skill may make the difference between victory and defeat.

In a similar vein to Roy, Tiki's Lifesphere may also provide Alear with the natural survivability that he/she is lacking. Additionally, Starsphere pushes Alear's stat growths to new heights.
