Recommended Classes and Emblems

Class	Explanation
Lance Flier	The map doesn't have many archers that can threaten flying units like Chloe. Take advantage of their movement in this relatively open map to save the villagers.
Noble (Alfred) Paladin	The field of thickets on the upper right corner of the map may slow down your Cavalry a bit, but they should be able to easily traverse the rest of the map.
Sigurd	Emblem Sigurd will prove useful with his additional movement and the Ridersbane. Engaging him with Alear will make sure they can reach the villagers quickly.

Paralogue: Budding Talent Battle Walkthrough

	Objective
1	Visit the left house for a Defense Tonic. Use a backline unit that won't see combat until later so your other units can advance.
2	Advance your units on two fronts. Send one group of units toward the villagers and the other toward the other house.
3	Kill any Corrupted along the way while advancing. There are a variety of units on this map such as Mages and Cavalry. Take advantage of Break and Type Effectiveness to clear them easily.
4	Speak with Jean once it's safe. After clearing out the surrounding enemies, you can speak to Jean with Alear to recruit him.
5	Visit the right house for an Energy Drop. Have one of your units pick up this useful stat booster once the nearby Corrupted are defeated.
6	Merge your units toward the field of thickets. Finish off the last of the Corrupted in the map by combining your forces. Be sure to watch out for the range of the Lance Flier and the Archer boss.

4. Speak with Jean to Recruit Him

Jean is a Martial Monk that starts at Lvl 1. He comes equipped with an Initiate Art and a Heal staff, making him useful as another healer for the Paralogue. His personal skill, Expertise, improves his growth rates, likely making his stats slightly higher than others after he's raised properly.

He can be recruited by speaking with Alear. If Alear doesn't talk to him, he will still join provided he survives the chapter.

I completed the level with one villager death and I still received Surge, just not the pure water.
