Fire Emblem Engage Battlefield

Fire Emblem Engage is a strategy RPG that primarily features turn-based, tactical combat as its core gameplay. Engage is the 17th installment of the mainline Fire Emblem series, which has gameplay that largely revolves around moving characters across a grid-based battlefield and taking turns to attack or use special items and abilities.

No Gacha Features

Fire Emblem Engage Gacha

Unlike the mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes (FEH), Fire Emblem Engage has no gacha features in its gameplay (as of the currently released footage). In FEH, you acquire new heroes via the "Summon" gacha system, wherein you spend in-game currency to gain a random hero.

In Engage, the allies and heroes you recruit on your campaign are the characters you meet as you progress through the story.

Not Hack-and-Slash

Fire Emblem Engage Battle Style

Unlike the spin-offs Fire Emblem Warriors and Three Hopes, Fire Emblem Engage does not have a hack-and-slash combat system. In Engage, you use up turns to take out individual foes laid out on the grid-based battlefield. You can't freely run around the battlefield and eliminate hoardes of enemies at once, as in the Warriors titles.

Not a Dating Sim

Fire Emblem Engage Dining

Although Fire Emblem Engage has features such as Bond Levels and Support Levels, wherien you develop and work on the relationships between you and your allies through various interactions, the game is not a dating sim.

Relationships in the game aren't built around complex interacitons where some strategy is required to navigate them (although your units do have favorite Gifts). Similarly, there isn't a wide range of romance options for the protagonist to pursue.
