| Description | Count Indarys of Cheydinhal has mentioned the opening of what they suspect to be a gate to the realm of Oblivion just outside the city walls. The guards seem on alert and tensions appear to be running high. He said if I wanted to help, I should make my way through the west gates of Cheydinhal and speak to the guards there. |
The Wayward Knight is located in Cheydinhal. Speak to Count Andel Indarys about the Oblivion Gate to start the quest.
| List of Objectives | ||
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Enter the Oblivion Gate and Find Farwil Indarys | |
| 2 | Sneak Past Farwil and Destroy the Sigil Stone | |
| 3 | Return to Count Andel Indarys | |

Enter the Oblivion Gate outside Cheydinhal to enter a rather large section of the Deadlands. You'll need to find Farwil Indarys who is located near the bottom of the mountainside that you spawn in close to the Sigil Keep.
You'll need to fight or sneak your way to the bottom of the mountainside to reach the keep where Farwil is waiting outside.

Although you're meant to assist Farwil in destroying the sigil stone at the keep, we recommend that you sneak past Farwil and assault the keep by yourself.
Farwil and his only surviving knight will easily get overpowered by the daedric forces due to their poor equipment and tendency to rush after daedra in lava. If Farwil dies, you get less rewards from the count.
If you sneak past Farwil and his knight and successfully destroy the sigil stone, they will automatically appear outside the Oblivion Gate once it closes. Speak to him to obtain a Knights of the Thorn Medallion and will also make you a Knight of the Thorn.

With Farwil safe back home, return to Count Andel Indarys who will reward you a choice between the Thornblade or Staff of Indarys.
Both weapons are great rewards and we recommend picking the weapon that best fits your build. The Count will also pledge aid in assisting Bruma, which completes the quest.
Successfully rescuing and keeping Farwil alive will reward you with the Knights of the Thorn Medallion and he'll also make you a Knight of the Thorn.
The Count will also reward you with either the Thornblade or Staff of Indarys. Both weapons are great picks and you should pick the one that best fits your build.
