Sneak |
Assassins should focus on levelling Blade, Marksman, and Light Armor, since those will be their main skills for combat. Outside of that, Alchemy lets you make potions that can be used to either enhance yourself or debilitate enemies, while Security and Sneak are generally important skills for stealth gameplay.
| Primary | Bow / Blade |
|---|---|
| Alternative | Whichever Primary You Didn't Choose |
Since the Assassin doesn't get a natural bonus to Agility, the Bow doesn't have an advantage over bladed weapons. This means that the weapon of choice ends up coming down to player preference and racial choice.
Just make sure that you have both types on you so that you can swap between them depending on if you need to go melee or ranged.
| Best Race | Best Origin |
|---|---|
Wood Elf
Khajiit
|
Any for Both |
Since Assassins can use both bows and bladed weapons, the racial choice for this class ends up coming down to which weapon type the player prefers. For example, if you prefer having a bonus to Marksman, then go for Wood Elf. Otherwise, you'll want to pick Khajiit for Blade.
For the Origin, it also comes down to player preference. Generally, the Endurance option for both races is always a solid choice, but the Personality and Strength options are also useful if you don't need Endurance.
| Best Birthsign | Description |
|---|---|
The Thief |
Those born under the sign of The Thief benefit from increased Agility, Speed and Luck. ・Fortify Agility: Increases Agility by 10 points. ・Fortify Luck: Increases Luck by 10 points. ・Fortify Speed: Increases Speed by 10 points. |
Unlike when picking other options for this class, the best birthsign will always be Thief since it gives bonuses to the attributes you want. However, you can still use other alternatives like Steed or Shadow if you prefer extra Speed or a free once-per-day Invisibility spell respectively.
