Blade of Woe (Best Dagger)

Night Mother and Blade of Woe

The Blade of Woe is obtained by joining the Dark Brotherhood and reaches its full potential with enchantments during the Honor Thy Mother quest. Ideal for assassins, it compensates for its lower base damage with powerful enchantments.

Its Damage Health effect adds 20–30 extra damage per hit, while draining Willpower and Magicka makes it effective against mages. The Demoralize effect can also send enemies fleeing, making them easy targets.

Witsplinter (Best Early Alternative)

Witsplinter Location

A strong early alternative is the Witsplinter, found during the The Siren's Deception side quest in Anvil. In Anvil, you can hear a rumor about a certain gang, which you can investigate further by speaking with Maelona at Gogan's House on the west side of town. Continue with the quest until you are led to Gweden Farm.

Witsplinter is located inside the Gweden Farmhouse and is dropped by Faustina upon her defeat. It has exceptional base physical damage together with Magicka and Intelligence drain effects, making it effective against mages just like the Blade of Woe.

It’s also ideal if you want more physical damage and want to avoid constantly having to recharge your weapons.
