This is a guide to Mercantile, a Stealth skill in The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered. Read on to see all the level up effects and unlocks of Mercantile, and learn how to level up Mercantile and the classes that start with it as a major skill.

How to Level Up Mercantile

Sell High Value Items to Get Large Amounts of Mercantile XP

Unlike the original version of Oblivion where Mercantile had fixed +XP value per item sold, the amount of skill XP you earn in the Remaster will depend on the value of the item being sold (most important) and the quantity of the items being sold as shown below.

Naturally, this means that the higher the value of item, the higher Mercantile skill XP you get per item sold. This is bad news for players who wanted to quickly level up the skill since the original method of selling arrows one by one is no longer a viable means of power leveling.

Duplicate Valuable Items for Faster Leveling

However, if you have no qualms with using glitches, you can use the Item Duplication Glitch to quickly level up Mercantile. This is the perfect method for those that don't want to use the in-game Console since the glitch does not disable achievements.

Mercantile Level Up Effects and Unlocks

Level Unlocks
Base The value of items you sell is reduced if the item is in poor condition.
25 The value of items you sell is no longer reduced if the item is in poor condition. Merchants may also offer better items.
50 You can buy and sell any item to any vendor. Merchants may also offer even better items.
75 All merchants have more gold available. You can invest in a shop to permanently increase that merchant's available gold.
100 You always buy and sell items at the best price possible. Merchants offer the best items they have.
