How Alchemy Recipes Work

Potency Depends On Alchemy Skill and Apparatus Used

Alchemy Potion

The effects of the final product will vary depending on your Alchemy skill level and the quality of the Apparatus you use.

A higher Alchemy skill and using appropriate Apparatus such as Journeyman, Expert, or Master level Mortars and Pestles, Retorts, Calcinators, and Alembics, will improve the potion or poison potency and duration.

How to Level Up Alchemy Fast

Combine Ingredients for Potions and Poisons With Multiple Effects

Multiple Effect Potion

There are countless useful combinations you can create. Crafting potions and poisons with multiple effects helps manage your inventory more efficiently, and since there are only limited potions you can drink at a time and only one poison effect on your weapon, you can achieve more effects in total.

To create potions with multiple effects, simply combine ingredients that share matching effects. For example, you can craft a Restore Health + Restore Fatigue potion by using Venison and Cairn Bolete Cap for the health effect, and Bread Loaf and Corn for the fatigue effect all in one craft.

Some useful effect combinations for different class types are:

  • Warrior Potion: Restore Health + Restore Fatigue
  • Mage Potion: Restore Magicka + Fortify Magicka
  • Stealth Potion: Chameleon + Invisibility
