What are Fences?

Merchants Who Purchase Stolen Goods

Stolen Tag
Fences are vendors who can purchase stolen goods from you, making them very important for those who live a life of crime. The Thieves Guild's Fences are also key individuals for the faction's questline since the requirement to advance it depends on the amount of gold you received from selling stolen goods.

One more important thing to note is that when you sell them a stolen item and repurchase it, the stolen tag will disappear and it will no longer be confiscated whenever you get caught.
