Goldbrand has the highest DPS for melee weapons, combining its high base damage with a powerful fire enchantment.

In addition to having the highest base damage among Longswords, Umbra's enchantment automatically applies Soul Trap to enemies on hit.

This pairs perfectly with your magic weapons, especially Goldbrand, letting you easily recharge them without needing Soul Trap spells.

The Blade of Woe, obtained through the Dark Brotherhood questline, suits the assassin order well. Its Demoralize enchantment causes enemies to flee on hit, while also dealing heavy Willpower, Health, and Magicka damage.
Best Shortsword
Chillrend Icon Chillrend
Chillrend boasts the highest base damage among shortswords and scales with Agility. Its powerful Frost enchantment adds even more damage.

Combined with the fast attack speed of shortswords, it’s ideal for agile playstyles or as a backup weapon for Agility-focused builds.

The best Blade Weapons are Goldbrand, Umbra, Blade of Woe, and Chillrend, for having top-tier base damage for their respective classes and exceptional enchantments. These enchantments either add significant extra damage or offer valuable utility, like Umbra’s inherent Soul Trap ability.

There are much fewer unique enchanted variants of Blunt weapons as compared to their Blade counterparts. The Mace of Molag Bal and Rockshatter quest rewards stand out for their high base damage and powerful enchantments.

Hatreds Soul has the highest base damage of all bows and has a powerful Fire Damage enchantment. You also get the Drain Speed effect on top of it, which synergizes perfectly with bows.
Best Early Bow
Frostwyrm Bow Icon Frostwyrm Bow
Frostwyrm Bow is strong in the early game for its solid base damage combined with its enchanted Frost damage. You can use this bow for the earlier quests and is a good backup bow for Fire-resistant enemies.

The best Bow in the game is Hatreds Soul by far, for its high damage output. Since it can only be grabbed a few main quests in, the Frostwyrm Bow is a great alternative beforehand.

The Frostwyrm's Frost damage is also a handy backup in case you are fighting something with high Fire Resistance such as Flame Atronachs or Dremora.

The Mage's Staff of Paralysis, obtained during A Mage's Staff, is the best staff option from this quest. It can paralyze enemies for up to 8 seconds, leaving them vulnerable to attacks.

Apotheosis and the Mage's Staff of Paralysis are the best staves in the game, thanks to their exceptional damage and utility respectively. Other Destruction staves only focus on one damage type, and Paralysis by far has most useful utility among spells that are not directly damage-focused.

They accused me of a crime only after they killed her. Done today 4/26/25 . Able to loot all her equipment afterwards anyway. Still working
