Build Ranking Criteria

Ranking Explanation
S Tier Builds in the S-Tier are generally the best ones to pick if you want to go towards their listed specialization and play style. These builds are also new player-friendly and are good throughout all points of the game.
A Tier A-Tier builds are very good and can easily compete with those in the S-Tier. They're still great for those new to the franchise, but their effectiveness is maximized in the hands of a more experienced player.
B Tier While still good, B-Tier builds are generally weaker than those in the high tiers, especially in the early game. However, these builds can still be very good, especially if you play towards what it's built for rather than the specialization listed.
C Tier As for the C-Tier builds, they aren't the worst per-say, but they aren't recommended picks either. They can still be fun to play, but if you're looking for a more optimal build, then it would be better to pick a different one instead.

An important thing to note is that all builds will equal out in power once all skills are maxed out at 100. Rankings are based more on the class' Major Skills and how it contributes to their specialization's playstyle while levelling up.

S-Tier Builds

Build Explanation
Warrior Warrior The Warrior is a classic melee fighter that utilizes heavy armour and shields to defend themselves in battle. They're very similar to the Barbarians, but they are much tankier thanks to the specializations in Heavy Armour and Endurance.
Mage Mage The Mage is considered the best Magic specialization class since all the spell schools are listed under its Major Skills. This makes it incredibly flexible, and players can experiment with their favourite spell types first before committing to a build.
Thief Thief If you want to play a predominantly stealthy playstyle, then the Thief is the perfect class to pick. They also don't have to worry about getting into melee fights since they can pick off enemies before they even know they're there.

A-Tier Builds

Build Explanation
Barbarian Barbarian Barbarians function very similarly to Warriors, except that they specialize in Light Armour and Speed instead of Heavy Armour and Endurance. This makes them squishier in battle, but this also helps them outmanoeuvre enemies in battle instead.
Crusader Crusader Crusaders being able to specialize in Destruction and Restoration spells makes them less reliant on melee and incredibly difficult to kill. The only downside, however, is that their spell effectiveness will be horrible early, but they scale incredibly well later on.
Battlemage Battlemage What makes Battlemages better than most melee-mage classes is that it isn't reliant on armour specializations to keep themselves alive in battle. This means that they don't get any spell-effectiveness penalties, making them strong from the get-go.
Nightblade Nightblade Nightblades are essentially offensive spellcasting assassins that can dip in and out of combat. They also specialize in Light Armour, which in general has a lower spell effectiveness penalty when compared to wearing Heavy Armour.
Agent Agent Agents employ Illusory spells to augment their Major Skills, letting them steal items or get kills that other builds couldn't have. However, if they get caught, the lack of a Light Armour specialization leaves them highly vulnerable.
Acrobat Acrobat What makes the Acrobat a great build is it excels in melee and ranged situations thanks to its Blade and Marksman specializations. However, it suffers the same problems as an Agent in that the lack of a Light Armour boost can make them vulnerable if caught out.

B-Tier Builds

Build Explanation
Knight Knight A Knight utilizes Illusion and Speechcraft to manipulate other characters to their liking. However, using Heavy Armour reduces the effectiveness of these spells, and utility spells are less useful when compared to what a Crusader can do, for example.
Scout Scout Scouts are agile melee fighters that utilize potions to get an edge over their opponents. The biggest downside is that their Favoured Attributes don't have either Strength or Agility, making their offense relatively weaker compared to other Combat specialization builds.
Rogue Rogue Somewhat of a combination of the previous two builds, Rogues combine potions and Illusory spells to enhance themselves in and out of battle. The main difference, however, is that they use Light Armour, which reduces the spell effectiveness penalty at the cost of being squishier.
Sorcerer Sorcerer Defensively, Sorcerers are similar to Crusaders in that they use Heavy Armour as their main defensive tool. Unfortunately, they don't have other forms of offense outside of spells, meaning they will have to deal with a painful spell effectiveness penalty in the early game.
Healer Healer Having social skills is always nice, but when compared to other Magic specialization builds, their initial spell choices are a lot narrower. It also doesn't get an Intelligence bonus, meaning that your Magicka pool will be lacking when compared to the other classes.
Spellsword Spellsword Spellswords have access to a myriad of spell schools that they can use in melee combat. However, with a lack of a Strength boost and lowered spell effectiveness while wearing Heavy Armour, their damage output will be lower on average until they reach higher levels.
Assassin Assassin Assassins have one of the best builds for eliminating targets since potions can be flexibly used in and out of battle. The only issue is that this is what sets them apart from other Stealth specialization classes, and it can be difficult for newer players to know which ingredients to get and what potions to make.
Pilgrim Pilgrim A Pilgrim build is great for social situations, and they also have good proficiencies if ever they get caught in battle. The major downside, however, is that they lack a Strength boost, meaning that the damage that they output falls behind other builds during the early game.
Bard Bard Bards are also great in social situations and bartering thanks to their proficiencies in Alchemy, Illusion, Mercantile, and Speechcraft. However, they share the same downsides with Pilgrim in that a lack of Strength or Agility boost weakens their damage output early on.

C-Tier Builds

Build Explanation
Archer Archer While the Archer is not bad, the Major Skills imply that it should be played as a stealth archer. If this is the case, it would be better to take a Stealth Specialization build instead, or at least change some skills so that it's a Heavy Armoured fighter that uses ranged attacks to weaken opponents before engaging in melee combat.
Witchhunter Witchhunter The way Witchhunter mixes its martial and magical capabilities is by using a bow. However, there's really not much point in doubling up on ranged attacks, and spells don't deal sneak attack damage, which is why players want to use a bow over spells in the first place.
Monk Monk Monks are great if you need to carry a ton of items that you've stolen, but they're worse in social situations and they're reliant on Alteration spells for defense. The only upside is that if you can kill off enemies from range, you don't have to worry about the lack of armour as a Major Skill.
