What Items to Drop

Drop the Items That Give the Least Benefits During the Tutorial

During the tutorial of the game, you will be able to loot alot of items but not all of them are useful throughout your journey. You should drop loot like items that rats drop or armor and weapons that do not give much benefits.

Armor and Weapons You Don't Use

Armor

You should always drop, store or sell the armor and weapons that you do not use. These armor and weapons weigh heavier compared to most other items and are only a hindrance as it will slow you down when moving around if the items you carry surpasses your current weight limit.

Make sure to also check if you have 2 or more of the same piece of equipment, as it's common to pick up the same pieces of equipment from the same enemy type when exploring a dungeon.

Harvested Plants for Alchemy

If you are making potions through alchemy, don't drop any of the plants that you harvest. Instead, use them to make different types of potions.

Keep Precious Gems to Sell Later

You can sell precious gems like diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, rubies, topazes, and pearls, as well as gold and silver nuggets for a high price.

These gems don't serve a different purpose other than to selling them to earn money so don't drop these gems. Instead, keep and opt to sell them later when you have a chance for more income.

Some Animal Skins are Required for Shrines

Oblivion - Azura

Some animal skins like a lion pelt are required to approach a Daedric Shrine in the game, making them an item worth keeping at least for a while.

Keep Soul Gems for Enchantments

Enchanted Weapon

If you are using enchanted weapons or making enchantments, keeping soul gems are ideal as they are a requirement to recharge the enchanted weapons or making other enchantments.

Some soul gems are also required to approach some Daedric Shrines.
