Becoming a vampire in The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered allows you to gain bonuses to skills and a complete resistance to disease and paralysis. Read on to know whether you should become a vampire, the effects of Vampirism, and how to become a vampire.

You gain a 100% resistance to Disease and 100% resistance to Paralysis upon becoming a vampire. You will also gain a bonus to multiple Skills and Attributes that increase in magnitude the more your Vampirism increases.
| Positive | Negative |
|---|---|
Resist Paralysis |
・ Weakness to Fire ・ Sun Damage* |
Sun Damage only becomes an active effect once Vampirism has developed to magnitude 50.
One downside to becoming a vampire is that you gain a weakness to fire, and if your Vampirism progresses enough, going outside during the day can damage you. This also means that you cannot fast travel or wait while outside during the day.
To prevent damage, you will have to reduce the magnitude of your Vampirism by feeding on sleeping NPCs.

The Darkness Eternal quest from the Dark Brotherhood is a quest that results in you turning into a vampire. This may be the best way to become a vampire if you're unsure of the whole process, since the quest will walk you through it.
Darkness Eternal Walkthrough and Rewards

You have a chance of contracting the Porphyric Hemophilia disease if you get attacked by a vampire. To check if you have this disease, go to the Active Effects tab on the Magic menu. There should be a Drain Fatigue effect active with Porphyric Hemophilia as the disease causing it.
Once you are infected, you have to wait three days for the disease to manifest. During these three days, if you decide that you don't actually want to be a vampire, you can easily cure Porphyric Hemophilia by consuming a potion with the Cure Disease effect, using the Cure Disease spell or praying at an altar.
Once the three days are up, these methods will no longer cure your disease, and sleeping will turn you into a vampire.

The Beating Heart can be obtained from the Mehrune's Razor DLC quest that's automatically available in Oblivion Remastered. Consuming this heart will infect you with both Cannibal's Prion Disease and Porphyric Hemophilia.
