The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion - Where to Store Items

You can store your items in different types of containers in The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered. Find out where to store items safely, as well as the different types of safe containers where you can store your items in this article.

How to Store Items

Buy a House to Store Items Safely

Shack for Sale

The best way to store your items safely is to buy a house in any of the eight major cities scattered throughout Cyrodiil. However, do note that buying a house costs a lot of money, with the cheapest house in the Imperial City selling for a whopping 2000 Gold.

The cheapest house for sale, or rather shack, is located to the northwest of the Imperial City Waterfront. Just fast travel to the Waterfront then look to the left until you see stairs by the ship. The stairs will lead you to a bunch of shacks including the shack currently on sale.

Put Item Inside a Safe Container

Safe Container Description
Sack Empty sacks or sacks that contain corn, flour, rice, or wheat grain are safe to deposit items in.
Torn Sack of Grain Looks like normal sacks except with a tear on the side and grain spilling out from it.
Jewelry Box
A small carved wooden box found after exiting the sewers, in an opened crate on the shore north of Vilverin.
Hollowed-Out Tree Stump
Can be found in an alley behind Rindir's Staffs in the Imperial City Market District.
Clams Clams found underwater in different bodies of water can function as safe deposit containers.
Permanent Corpses You can store items inside corpses that already existed at the location before you arrived there.

If you are reaching your weight limit, you can opt to put some items inside safe containers. Safe containers don't despawn the items you store inside of them, making them ideal storage until you can buy your own house.

Once you have more space, don't forget to go back to the location of the safe container where you stored your items to retrieve your stashed loot.
