Enchanted Daedric Battle Axe (Best Overall)

An Enchanted Daedric Battle Axe is the best Battle Axe when it comes to damage. Daedric Battle Axes have the highest base damage among their weapon type, and you can create your own magic variant by enchanting a generic Daedric Battle Axe using a Sigil Stone.

Aim for Transcendent Sigil Stones that are available after closing Oblivion Gates at level 18 or higher. Among enchantment effects, Shock Damage is ideal, as it's the least resisted by most enemies. However, Fire and Frost damage, or even Soul Trap are also solid alternatives.

Daedric Weapons and Armor Appear at Level 20+

Daedric equipment begins appearing as random loot starting at Level 20, usually dropped by Warrior or Marauder enemies. Keep an eye out for these as you progress.

Perdition's Wrath (Best Early)

Perditions Wrath Merchant

Perdition’s Wrath is especially effective in the early to mid-game thanks to its solid base damage, equivalent to that of a Dwarven Battle Axe. It's powerful fire enchantment triggers an area-of-effect fire blast in a 50-foot radius that damages only enemies, leaving you and your allies unharmed.

This is the only unique battle axe that you can get guaranteed and not as random loot, and can be bought earlier on. You can buy it directly from M’raaj-Dar, the Khajiit merchant inside the Cheydinhal Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary.
