Best Summons in Oblivion Remastered

Best Summons by Level
Apprentice Journeyman Expert Master

Note: All summons were tested against enemies encountered at different player levels (Levels 1, 10, 16, 20, and 25). This testing method was used to ensure that Journeyman, Expert, and Master level summons weren't just steamrolling low level enemies to get better rankings.

Best Apprentice Conjuration Summons

The following apprentice summons were tested against enemies encountered when the player is Level 1.

Summon
Rating
Rating Explanation
Zombie
★★★★★
The best apprentice-level summon is the Zombie since it has a decent HP pool (against low-level enemies) and it can actually hold its own against multiple enemies compared to the other summons.
Scamp
★★
The Scamp summon has a ranged fire attack that deals okay damage but it crumbles once an enemy is within melee distance. It also dies pretty quickly when fighting ranged enemies.
Skeleton
The basic Skeleton summon deals very low damage and, in a 1v1, it dies pretty quickly without doing any significant damage (even against enemies when the player is only at Level 1).
Ghost
Does not retain its immunity to physical damage unlike regular Ghost-type enemies. It is also very squishy making it the worst apprentice-level summon.

Best Journeyman Conjuration Summons

The following Journeyman Conjuration summons were tested against enemies encountered when the player is Level 10.

Summon
Rating
Rating Explanation
Headless Zombie
★★★★★
The best journeyman summon is the Headless Zombie due to its high HP pool and high melee damage. When facing off against multiple opponents, it can kill 1~2 before it dies or its summon timer runs out.
Skeleton Guardian
★★★★
The Skeleton Guardian is the runner-up for best journeyman summon since it can tank damage with its shield while also being able to deal damage back. However, it does get melted if there are more than 2 enemies fighting it at the same time.
Flame Atronach
★★★
The Flame Atronach is decent at range (especially if you can draw aggro away from it). However, its low-damage ranged attack and quick summon timer hold it back significantly.
Dremora
The Dremora is the worst journeyman summon despite how tanky it is due to the fact that it usually misses its attacks and its summon timer is too quick. More often than not, it will only block until it despawns.

Best Expert Conjuration Summons

The following Expert Conjuration summons were tested against enemies encountered when the player is Level 16 and Level 20.

Summon
Rating
Rating Explanation
Daedroth
★★★★★
The Daedroth is the best expert summon simply because of its high HP pool and amazing damage even against higher tier enemies like Storm Atronachs. Compared to the other expert summons, the Daedroth is one of the few that can hold its own against multiple enemies.
Frost Atronach
★★★★
The Frost Atronach is the second best expert summon for similar reasons to the Daedroth. However, it does struggle against higher tier enemies in a 1v1.
Spider Daedra
★★★
The Spider Daedra is decent but nothing to write home about. Its damage output makes it a powerhouse against enemies when you're at level 10~16. However, against enemies of a similar level (like an enemy Spider Daedra), it gets bodied real quick.
Clannfear
★★
The Clannfear is fast and deals decent damage against enemies of a similar level. However, its low HP only makes it effective against regular enemies.
Faded Wraith
The Faded Wraith functions more like a ranged support during fights. However, its low damage and lack of physical immunity (like regular ghosts) make it a subpar summon (especially since it's availability is locked behind Expert Conjuration).
Skeleton Champion
The Skeleton Champion is only marginally better than the Hero variant. Its HP pool and damage are still pretty bad though, making it one of the worst expert summons to use.
Skeleton Hero
The Skeleton Hero is pretty bad since it tends to miss a lot of its attacks when summoned. Couple this with its unusually low HP pool and you have a summon that gets folded easily, even if you draw aggro for it.

Best Master Conjuration Summons

The following Master Conjuration summons were tested against enemies encountered when the player is Level 25+.

Summon
Rating
Rating Explanation
Xivilai
★★★★★
The Xivilai is the best master-level summon since it's decently tanky even against similar enemies while also dealing a ton of consistent melee and spell damage. Unlike the Dremora Lord and Storm Atronach, this summon can actually hold its own even against multiple enemies.
Dremora Lord
★★★★
The Dremora Lord is a great master-level summon because of how tanky it is. Despite its "okay" damage, this summon pulls its weight if the player can split aggro with it during big fights.
Storm Atronach
★★★★
The Storm Atronach is another great master-level summon because of its high melee damage against enemies of a similar level. The only things holding it back from being a true S-tier summon is its weak ranged attack and its slow movement speed (that eats away at its summon time).
Lich
★★★
The Lich is a bit lower on the list since its effectiveness relies on RNG. If it spawns with a bad staff, then you're stuck with a Lich that can barely do damage during the fight. However, it has its moments of brilliance when it spawns in with powerful AoE spell staves.
Gloom Wraith
The Gloom Wraith is the worst master-level summon because of how squishy it is and how underwhelming its damage is even when it isn't pulling aggro.
