Talk to Arquen
Inside the Applewatch Farmhouse, talk to Arquen about the Night Mother between midnight and 3am. You will be transported in front of the Lucky Old Lady Statue in Bravil.
Follow Black Hand Members into the Crypt
Upon arriving in front of the statue, Arquen will inform you about the crypt beneath and of what she is going to do.
Afterwards, she will proceed to chant the incantation. The entrance into the crypt will open. Follow the other Black Hand members into the crypt.
Eliminate the Traitor
Arquen will tell the Night Mother that the traitor has been killed. However, Night Mother will reveal that the traitor is still alive and that they wrongly killed Lucien Lachance.
One of the Black Hand members will get impatient and interrupt their conversation. It is Mathieu Bellamont; he is the betrayer. He will attack the other Black Hand members first, and only Arquen will remain alive to help you kill him.
Talk to Night Mother
After you defeat Mathieu Bellamont, Night Mother will speak with you. She will tell you that she has been watching your deeds and is impressed with you, so she promotes you to Listener.
She will offer you to take whatever you want from the crypt. Be sure to take the best items and as much as you can, because you can never go back to this crypt, according to Night Mother.
After taking everything you want from the crypt, talk to Night Mother again. She will transport you directly to the Sanctuary in Cheydihal.
Talk to Arquen
After you have been transported to the Sanctuary, talk to Arquen to complete the quest Honor Thy Mother. This will also automatically begin the quest Whispers of Death.
Honor Thy Mother Rewards
Blade of Woe Upgrade, Promotion to Listener
As a reward for completing the quest Honor Thy Mother, the Blade of Woe will be upgraded, and you will be promoted to the rank of Listener in the Dark Brotherhood as a reward for completing the quest Honor Thy Mother.
