| Description | I've heard a rumor about the ghost of an old man who walks the shores of Niben Bay at night. It's said that he walks slowly along the coast, and then looks mournfully out into the Bay until the sun rises. The people of Bravil have taken to calling him 'the Forlorn Watchman'. I was referred to Gilgondorin at Silverhome-on-the-Water to learn more. |
The Forlorn Watchman is located in Bravil. After asking rumors about a ghost, speak with Gilgondorin in Silverhome on the Water inn to start the quest.
| List of Objectives | ||
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Look for the Ghost in Bawnwatch Camp | |
| 2 | Follow the Ghost to Fort Irony | |
| 3 | Defeat Gable the Traitor | |
| 4 | Release Blakely and Get the Map | |
| 5 | Look for the Treasure in Black Dog Camp | |

Gilgondorin will tell you more about the ghost and mark Bawnwatch Camp on your map located southeast of Bravil. He also mentions that the ghost always appears at 8pm.
We recommend making your way there use the nearby bedroll to sleep until 8pm so that you don't miss the ghost.

Once the ghost appears, he will start making his way to Fort Irony. Speak to the ghost when he stops walking and he'll introduce himself as Grantham Blakely.
He'll urge you to look for his body in the mouth of the panther and release his soul to rest. Return to Gilgondorin and he'll mention that the location the ghost is referring to is the Mouth of the Panther river and he'll mark it on your map.

Make your way to the Mouth of the Panther and look for the wreck of the Emma May. The shipwreck is filled with ghosts that are immune to regular weapons so we recommend you use magic.
The wreck of the Emma May is a fairly linear and you'll need to make your way to the lower level of the ship where Gable the Traitor resides. Defeat him and loot the small key from his ghostly remains.

Use the small key on the previously locked room on the lower deck and release Grantham Blakely's corpse from the chains. This will cause his ghost to appear and thank you. He'll also tell you to pick up the map on the floor that will direct you to his buried treasure.

Make your way east to Black Dog Camp and defeat the resident bandits. From the boat on the camp, head south underwater and look for a chest between some rocks. Loot the chest to complete the quest.
Completing the quest will reward you a leveled selection of loot from Grantham Blakely's Chest. This may include soul gems, precious gems such as Rubies and Sapphires, as well a weapon with a random enchantment.
