Necromancer's Moon is located in the Arcane University, in the Imperial City. Talk to Raminus Polus to start the quest.
Necromancer's Moon Walkthrough
Talk to Raminus Polus
Head to the Arcane University and talk to Raminus Polus. He will tell you about Black Soul Gems and direct you to Tar-Meena at the Mystic Archives.
Talk to Tar-Meena
Talk to Tar-Meena and she will instruct you to look for a book about Black Soul Gems called the Necromancer's Moon, said to be located in the Library.
Find Necromancer's Moon and Bring it Back to Tar-Meena
Head to the Library and look for Necromancer's Moon. It should be located around the lower room of the Library, on top of a table.
Take it back to Tar-Meena and talk to her to learn a little bit more about it before instructing you to head back to Raminus.
She'll also bring up the Shade of the Revenant to you before leaving.
Bring the Book to Raminus
Head back to Raminus and tell him about what you learned from Tar-Meena. He will direct you to Bothiel, who can be found wandering the campus or around the lobby.
Talk to Bothiel
Talk to Bothiel and she will tell you that she also isn't too familiar with it but remembers that Falcar, the mage from the Cheydinhal Recommendation quest, also asked something similar about the Shade of the Revenant.
She will write up a note for Raminus and asks you to bring it to him. Talk to Raminus and give him the note and he will instruct you to head to Dark Fissure Cave to investigate.
Head to the Dark Fissure Cave
Head to Dark Fissure Cave to investigate. The cave is located south of Cheydinhal, with an altar found in front of the door to the cave.
Players have two options to proceed: Wait for a Shade of the Revenant that happens every 8 days and observe the ritual or head inside the cave and kill the Worm Anchorite to steal the Handwritten Note.
Killing the Worm Anchorite is the faster approach to completing the quest as you will just need to get the note from their body as proof of the ritual.
Report to Raminus
Report your findings to Raminus to complete the quest and earn your promotion.
Necromancer's Moon Rewards
Promotion to Magician
After completing this quest, Raminus will promote you to Magician.
