Astro Bot Overview
Astro Bot is a platformer adventure game released on September 6, 2024, for the PS5, serving as a sequel to Team Asobi's Astro's Playroom from 2020 and the third game in the series. Players take on the role of the lovable Astro Bot, embarking on a space-faring adventure through diverse environments, including waves of sandy beaches, lush jungles, and fiery volcanoes. Along the way, Astro gains new powers and transformations to aid in the journey. Released in celebration of PlayStation's 30th anniversary, the game pays homage to the brand's legacy by allowing players to find and reunite with over 150 iconic PlayStation characters.
Astro Bot Gameplay
Astro Bot is an adventure platformer where you control Astro as he explores six galaxies and over 80 levels across 50 planets to find his scattered crew.
You'll dash, swing, and rocket-punch through diverse planets, unlocking 15 new abilities, including using Barkster, the Bulldog Booster, to air-dash and smash enemies.
Team up with iconic PlayStation heroes to save the galaxy and experience the game’s immersive world through the DualSense® wireless controller.

Sony's Answer and Rival to Mario
Astro Bot received universal acclaim from both critics and players. Game8 rated it 96/100, calling it the best platformer of the year, praising its stunning visuals, great design, and fun, simple controls. They compared it to Super Mario Odyssey but noted it still feels unique. IGN gave it a 9/10, calling it a fantastically inventive platformer filled with PlayStation memories. While most levels are linear, they highlighted some as exceptionally enjoyable and creative. The game currently holds a 4.89 out of 5 stars with over 31,000 ratings on the PSN Store.

⚫︎ In the Making of Astro Bot
video, it was revealed that some characters, such as Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal and Princess Plump from Fat Princess, didn’t make it into the final version of the game.
⚫︎ In an interview with Game File, Nicolas Doucet, head of Team Asobi, revealed they had considered adding Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VIIas a cameo but couldn't secure permission from Square Enix.
