Talk to Vicente Valtieri
After completing The Assassinated Man quest, the optional Dark Brotherhood quest Darkness Eternal will become available.
Talk to Vicente Valtieri. Choose the dialogue option Gift. He will tell you that he can turn you into a vampire if you want to be be one. If you agree, the Darkness Eternal quest will begin. He will then tell you about the procedure.
This quest can be done anytime but must be completed before The Purification quest. If not, the quest will remain stuck and incomplete for the rest of the game.
Sleep in the Sanctuary
Find somewhere to sleep in the Sanctuary. The nearest one you can use is the Sleeping Slab in Vicente Valtieri's quarters.
Sleep for a couple of hours, and when you awaken, you will discover that you have two bleeding pinpricks on your neck.
Sleep Again After 3 Days
You can spend three days of in-game time doing something else, or you can also adjust the time to wait for three days. Whichever way you choose, after three days, ensure that you go to sleep.
You will then receive a message indicating that you have successfully become a vampire.
Darkness Eternal: Can't Become a Vampire Bug
Vampire Bug Fixes
If you didn't turn into a vampire after doing all the steps, then you have encountered a bug.
You can reload and retry the quest for a fix. If the quest is still bugged and you want to be a vampire, there are other options.
Other Ways To Become A Vampire:
- Contract Porphyric Hemophilia from fighting vampires
- Use console commands to turn yourself into a vampire (Input PCVampire 1 and vampire.hasdisease 1)
- Eat the Beating Heart from the Unearthing Mehrune's Razor DLC quest
Note: Vicente Valtieri's death will end and remove the Darkness Eternal quest from your active journal. However, hold off on killing Vicente Valtieri for now. You can check the Purification quest for details.
Darkness Eternal Rewards
Vampirism
You will become a Vampire as a reward for completing the Darkness Eternal quest.
Becoming a Vampire will give you 100% resistance to Disease and 100% resistance to Paralysis. You will also gain a bonus to multiple Skills and Attributes.
