| Description | A Dunmer named Fathis Ules has told me that Albert Jemane, Reynald and Guilbert's father, stole a valuable item from the Thieves Guild many years ago. He's offered to pay me well to return this item to him in Chorrol. Fathis believes it's now hidden inside of Redguard Valley Cave, which's he's marked on my map. |
Sins of the Father is located in Chorrol. Wait for two days after completing Legacy Lost and Fathis Ules will approach you to start the quest.
| List of Objectives | ||
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Kill the Ogre Chieftain at Redguard Valley Cave | |
| 2 | Keep or Return the Honorblade | |

Make your way to Redguard Valley Cave south of Chorrol. The cave is a relatively small and has a simple layout and you'll need to find the Ogre Chieftain located on the southern part of the cave.
Fight your way through the cave and defeat the Ogre Chieftain and loot the Honorblade of Chorrol from its corpse.
| Choice | Result |
|---|---|
| Return the Honorblade of Chorrol to Laythe Wavrick at Castle Chorrol | Laythe Wavrick will give you the Escutcheon of Chorrol. Return to Weatherleah and talk to the Jemane brothers to receive 4 Grand Soul Gems. |
| Give the Honorblade of Chorrol to Fathis Ules | Fathis Ules will reward you with a large amount of Gold, based on your level. |
| Keep the Honorblade of Chorrol to Yourself | You can keep the Honorblade of Chorrol, but the quest will remain incomplete. |
As soon as you loot the Honorblade, you'll be presented with three choices on what to do with it. You can either return the Honorblade, sell it to Fathis Ules, or keep it for yourself.
If you return the Honorblade, you'll need to find Laythe Wavrick at Castle Chorrol. He'll reward you with the Escutcheon of Chorrol as thanks, and you'll also receive 4 Grand Soul Gems if you speak with the Jemane Brothers.
If you decide to sell it to Fathis Ules, he'll only reward you with leveled amount of gold and is the lesser reward of the options.
Alternatively, you can keep Honorblade for youself though this will not complete the quest and it will remain incomplete. We recommend keeping the Honorblade until you get a stronger weapon, after which it's best to return it to Laythe Wavrick as it gives more rewards.
Should You Return the Honorblade of Chorrol?
If you decide to return the Honorblade, Laythe Wavrick will reward you with the Escutcheon of Chorrol. You'll also receive 4 Grand Soul Gems from the Jemane Brothers if you talk to them.
Escutcheon of Chorrol Location, ID, and Stats
If you decide to give the Honorblade to Fathhhis Ules, you will get a leveled amount of gold. This is the lesser of the two rewards, as there are many ways to earn gold in game.
