Each week will also have a different set of featured Pokemon introduced in 2025 that have an increased appearance chance during this event.

Take note that the Legendary Pokemon introduced this year (Cresselia and Darkrai) are not included in the list of featured Pokemon for either of the event weeks.

For both event weeks, the Event Exchange shop will be open. You can go here to redeem the Dream Coins you’ve collected for various items.

Use Dream Coins in the Event Exchange

You will be able to collect Dream Coins during this event through sleep research, event missions, and your research community. These Dream Coins can be exchanged for various items in the Event Exchange store, found on the upper right side of the screen during the event.

How to Get Dream Coins

Different Sleep Types Appear in Sleep Research

Pokemon of all three sleep types can appear during sleep research throughout the whole New Year event. It will be as if you obtain a Balanced Sleep Type for every sleep session.

All Sleep Types and How to Get Each One

No Increased Shiny Odds

Pokemon Sleep - All Shiny Team

The New Year event does not increase your chances of finding a Shiny Pokemon. Since the previous Holiday event increases the Shiny odds for all Pokemon, it’s not surprising that this event does not have this feature available.

Increased Main Skill Chance and Level

Pokemon Sleep - Evee Ingredient Magnet S Skill

All Pokemon will have their main skill level increased by 1 during the first week of the New Year event. All main skills will also have a slightly increased chance of triggering (1.25x the normal odds).

Bonus Drowsy Power on January 1

To celebrate the new year, Drowsy Power will be multiplied by 3 on New Year's Day, January 1. This is a great way to keep your Drowsy Power up in case you get less sleep during the new year celebrations.

More Dream Shards from Sleep Research

Item Description
Pokemon Sleep - Dream Shards Dream Shards Used to raise a Pokemon's level.

Week 2 of the New Year event allows players to get more Dream Shards than normal. During this week, Dream Shards you obtain during sleep research will be increased by 1.5x!

What are Dream Shards and How to Get Them

Dish Strength Multiplied by 1.25

Event Date Strength Bonus Extra Tasty Bonus
January 5 - 10 x1.25 x2.5
January 11
(last day)
x1.25 x3.75

All dishes made during the second week of the New Year event have a 1.25x Strength boost. Extra Tasty dishes, which are normally around double (2x) the expected dish Strength, instead have 2.5x the original dish Strength during this event.

On Sunday, January 11, this Extra Tasty bonus goes up to 3.75x. Combined with the doubled pot capacity and increased Extra Tasty chance on Sundays, you can make an exceptionally strong dish that may allow you to jump through multiple Snorlax Ratings all at once.

Candy Cram-o-Matic

Use Candies and Dream Shards in the Candy Cram-o-matic

The Candy Cram-o-matic is a machine that can make Medium-sized Candy of a particular Pokemon type in exchange for Dream Shards and 40 Pokemon Candies.

It can be used up to four times per day. If you use 40 Candies of the same element type, the resulting Candy is more likely to match this type. However, like the Cram-o-matic from Pokemon Sword and Shield, there is still some randomness expected from this machine.

Week 2 of the New Year 2026 event increases the encounter chance of the Pokemon introduced into the game in late 2025, from August onwards, such as the ones added alongside the Amber Canyon research area. However, the new Pokemon from the Holiday 2025 event are not included.

Best Island for New Year 2026

Greengrass Isle for Week 1

Pokemon Sleep - Greengrass Isle Snorlax

All of the featured Pokemon are available on Greengrass Isle, which makes it the best area to go to if you want to encounter as many of the featured Pokemon as possible. This is also the most accessible area, available to both beginners and veterans alike.

However, if you’re targeting a specific Pokemon, it would be best to go to the research area it resides in with the least amount of featured Pokemon. This is to give you better chances of encountering the specific featured Pokemon you want.

List of All Research Areas

Go to Expert Mode for a Challenge

If you have a strong enough team, a lot of Pokemon Sleep experience, and are interested in more of a challenge, you can go to the Greengrass Isle (Expert) area. This island also includes all of the featured Pokemon in week 1 of the event, similar to the regular Greengrass Isle area.

Take note that the recommended Team RP for this area is 23,000, and Expert Mode will only be unlocked once you've reached Master 18 on Greengrass Isle at least once before.

Amber Canyon for Week 2

Amber Canyon banner

During the second week of the New Year event, all featured Pokemon are available in the Amber Canyon research area. Take note that this is area requires a high Team RP if you want to be able to raise Snorlax's Strength rating enough to encounter evolved Pokemon.

For those who haven't unlocked Amber Canyon or do not have a strong enough team for this area, it is recommended to go to Greengrass Isle instead. It is not recommended to go to Cyan Beach for this second week, since no featured Pokemon will be available in this area.
