Going to sleep and then researching Sleep Styles during the applicable Research event will reward you with Pokemon material for each Sleep Style. Pokemon material will only be given during the first sleep session you have for the day if you do two.
Legendary Pokemon such as Raikou, Entei, or Suicune as well as Pokemon with increased encounter chances that appear during sleep research will provide more Pokemon material compared to other Pokemon.

Event missions during applicable Research events all reward Pokemon material in varying amounts. Try your best to complete them all!

Your research community friends that are participating in the Research event have a chance to give you Pokemon material. Friends with higher closeness levels have a higher chance of providing Pokemon material. Remember to check your research community through the main menu every day!
How to Add Friends and Benefits

Both the Legendary Research Bundles and the Last Chance Bundles for the Raikou, Entei, and Suicune Research event contain Pokemon material in each of their bundle packages.
These bundles can be purchased from the General Store in exchange for Diamonds.

Pokemon material is only obtainable and usable during specific Research events such as the Raikou, Entei, and Suicune Research event. It can be used at the Event Exchange, which will be open for the duration of the event.
Pokemon material serves as the replacement for the Raikou Mane, Entei Mane, and Suicune Mane items. This means that Pokemon material will likely be the currency for all Research events featuring multiple Pokemon.

An incense loved by Raikou. During your next sleep research, one additional Raikou will appear. |
|
|
An incense loved by Entei. During your next sleep research, one additional Entei will appear. |

An incense loved by Suicune. During your next sleep research, one additional Suicune will appear. |
Some of the best things to get with your Pokemon material are Raikou Incense, Entei Incense, and Suicune Incense. These items are only available during Research events that the corresponding Pokemon are a part of.
Incense allows you to summon the target Pokemon after the sleep session you use it in as an additional Pokemon. This allows you to easily encounter these rare Legendary Pokemon that are normally difficult to find.
Take note that you can only have one each of the Legendary Pokemon Incense at a time.

A special treat for certain Pokemon that will make them a lot more friendly toward you. The biscuit increases their friendship points by 6. |
To easily befriend Raikou, Entei, and Suicune, make sure to stock up on Premier Biscuits before summoning them with an Incense. Premier Biscuits increase a Pokemon's Friendship gauge by 6, but it can only be used on Raikou, Entei, and Suicune.
Once the Research event is over, any remaining Premier Biscuits in your bag will be converted into Great Biscuits.

A mysterious seed that can raise the level of a Pokemon's main skill by one. |
The Event Exchange has a single Main Skill Seed in stock. Although expensive at 350 Pokemon material, it's worth it since you can only get one Main Skill Seed every month if you don't have a Premium Pass.

Pokemon material can only be used at the Event Exchange during the Raikou, Entei, and Suicune Research event. It cannot be used anywhere else, so make sure to spend as much of it as you can during the event.
The Event Exchange icon can be found on the right side of the main screen.
