Your Pokemon can earn EXP by going to sleep or by using Candies and Dream Shards. Read on for more information on how to level up your Pokemon fast, how to evolve your Pokemon, and what the EXP requirements to level up are in Pokemon Sleep.
List of Contents
Starting a Sleep Session and going to sleep is the only way for Pokemon to gain EXP in Pokemon Sleep without using items.
Your Pokemon earn the same amount of EXP as your Sleep Score for the Sleep Session. If you want your Pokemon to gain more EXP, try to sleep for as long as you can. You can get a Sleep Score of 100 if you sleep for at least 8 hours and 30 minutes.
You can have two Sleep Sessions in a day that will share that daily 100 Sleep Score limit. If 8 and a half hours is too much for you to achieve in one Sleep Session, you can divide that time into two.
If you use a Growth Incense while setting up your Sleep Session, your Pokemon will receive double the amount of EXP they would normally receive when you wake up the next day.
Aim for a high Sleep Score while using a Growth Incense so you can earn up to 200 EXP for each of the Pokemon in your Helper Team.
Growth Incense Effect and How to Get
If you want to level up your Pokemon faster, you can use Pokemon Candies and Dream Shards to raise your Pokemon's EXP. You can unlock this level up feature after adding at least 7 Sleep Styles to your Sleep Style Dex.
Every Candy you use to level up your Pokemon increases their EXP by 25 points (for non-EXP Natures only). The Dream Shards you'll need will increase as you use more Candy and gain more EXP.
You can get more Candies from researching Sleep Styles, your Research Community, by sending Pokemon to Professor Neroli, and from random drops by your Pokemon on the field. Dream Shards are common rewards you get as you play the game.
If there's a Pokemon in your Box that you want to evolve, check its evolution requirements so you can start preparing. Tap on Evolve on your Pokemon's information page to see the evolution requirements.
Most Pokemon will be able to evolve if it reaches a certain level. Some Pokemon can evolve immediately if you have a certain item.
Pokemon that usually require high friendship to evolve will need a certain number of sleep hours before they can evolve. These Pokemon should always be part of your Helper Team whenever you go to sleep.
While Pokemon may differ in the conditions needed for evolution, one requirement remains the same: all Pokemon require Candies to evolve.
It's more important to reserve your Candies for Pokemon evolution rather than to use them all to level up your Pokemon. You can gain EXP and levels through other methods, but evolving your Pokemon will always require Candies.

List of All Pokemon Candies and How to Get Them
Make a Helper Team filled with only Pokemon of the same species or evolutionary line. This gives you 5 times the chances of getting your desired Pokemon Candy when checking on your Helper Pokemon.
Include Pokemon with the Dream Shard Magnet Skill or the Dream Shard Bonus Sub Skill on your Helper Team in order to collect more Dream Shards.
Take note that you need to tap on Pokemon in order for Main Skills to have a chance to activate. Sub Skills are automatically active as long as the Pokemon is out on the field.
List of All Skills and Effects
Nature | Increased Stat | Decreased Stat |
---|---|---|
Timid | EXP gains | Speed of help |
Hasty | EXP gains | Energy recovery |
Jolly | EXP gains | Ingredient finding |
Naive | EXP gains | Main Skill chance |
Pokemon with these Natures gain more EXP after a Sleep Session compared to Pokemon with other Natures. If you just want a Team of high level Pokemon without necessarily caring about which species of Pokemon level up, it would be better to choose Pokemon with one of these Natures .
- EXP Nature | Neutral Nature | + EXP Nature |
---|---|---|
21 | 25 | 30 |
Pokemon with Natures affecting EXP gains are also affected when using Candy to gain EXP. Pokemon with a Nature that increases EXP gains will receive 30 EXP for every Candy used, while Pokemon with a Nature that decreases EXP gains will only receive 21 EXP per Candy.
Best Natures: List of All Natures and Effects
As your Pokemon's level increases, the time indicated in its Frequency of Help stat decreases. This means that your Pokemon is able to gather ingredients and Berries within a shorter period of time.
This is a good way to build up your Snorlax Strength since you can collect more food for Snorlax faster. This is also good if you're trying to get more ingredients to complete your List of Recipes.
When to Check Your Helper Pokemon
RP is a way to quantify how effective a Pokemon is at raising Snorlax. High RP Pokemon can gather more resources within shorter periods of time.
Pokemon tend to have higher RP as they gain levels. If you fill your Helper Team will high level Pokemon, there's a good chance you'll come up with a high RP Pokemon Helper Team.
All Pokemon have a set of Sub Skills and ingredients that are randomized and unlockable only at specific levels. The first Sub Skill can be unlocked at level 10.
Both Sub Skills and ingredients provide more value to your Pokemon. Sub Skills, in addition to Natures, can be the determining factor on whether your Pokemon should be added to your Helper Team or be sent to Professor Neroli.

This table applies to all Pokemon except for Larvitar, Pupitar, Tyranitar, Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite. The Pokemon in these evolutionary lines all have increased EXP requirements at 1.5x the normal amount. This is because they are considered Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon, which are known for leveling up slowly and evolving late.
Raikou also has a different EXP computation as a Legendary Pokemon. It requires around 1.8x the normal amount of EXP in order to level up.
The maximum level for Pokemon in Pokemon Sleep is 100, though at the moment, you cannot level up past level 55.
