Pokemon can be befriended by using Biscuits in Pokemon Sleep after every sleep session. Keep reading to learn when Biscuits can be used, which types of Biscuits to use, friendship level bonuses, and other tips on how to befriend Pokemon using Biscuits in Pokemon Sleep.
List of Contents
Sleeping Pokemon will gather around Snorlax after every sleep session. After researching their Sleep Styles, you will be able to befriend these Pokemon using Biscuits. This is the only time you can befriend Pokemon, so make sure you have all the Pokemon you want before you end Snack Time.
Once the Pokemon wake up after you research their Sleep Styles, you will be able to see a level number and some bars on top of them. Each bar represents a Friendship Point. You need to fill in all those bars in order to befriend a Pokemon.
Most non-evolved Pokemon will need 5 Friendship Points in order to befriend them. Evolved forms of Pokemon will usually take more Friendship Points to befriend, especially those with a higher level. It's best to reserve any Master Biscuit you may get for these difficult-to-recruit Pokemon.
It's a good idea to use as little Biscuits as possible for each Pokemon to prevent them from being full. Full Pokemon cannot be given any more Biscuits for the Snack Time period, and therefore, cannot be befriended. You will have to hope for them to come back after a future sleep session if you want to feed them again.
For Pokemon that require 5 Friendship Points, do not try to feed them five Poke Biscuits in one Snack Time and expect to befriend them. Instead, try to use a Bonus Biscuit and two Poke Biscuits for more consistent results.
If you have multiple of the same Pokemon that appeared in one sleep session, you may notice that they share only one Friendship gauge. All of the same Pokemon species on the field will have the same amount of Friendship Points regardless of who you feed.
This means that if one of them becomes full, you can instead feed the other Pokemon of the same species to completely fill the Friendship level. If you manage to befriend one, you may notice that the level of the others of the same species will increase. This also applies to Pokemon you have caught before and have appeared again in other sleep research sessions.
List of All Pokemon in Pokemon Sleep
You get one free Bonus Biscuit a day (or a Premium Bonus Biscuit for Premium Pass holders) that you will receive after your first sleep session. If you do two sleep sessions in a day, you will not have access to a Bonus Biscuit during your second sleep session.
You will need to use your Bonus Biscuit after your first sleep session of the day. If you decide to end Snack Time while you still have a Bonus Biscuit in your inventory, the game will choose a Pokemon to give the Biscuit to randomly. It may be best to hand out the Biscuit yourself so you can choose a Pokemon you may want to recruit in the future.
Bonus Biscuit Effect and How to Get
If you gave a Pokemon a Biscuit but did not give it enough Biscuits to befriend it, either because you were out of Biscuits or the Pokemon was full, don't worry. You didn't waste your Biscuits.
A Pokemon you've fed can appear again after another sleep session with the increased Friendship Points from the Biscuit you gave previously. It may not be exactly the same Pokemon as the one you fed. It might have different stats or nature, or it can even be Shiny! Regardless, the Friendship Points will carry over.
Feeding a Pokemon a Biscuit will not increase its chances of appearing again. The Pokemon that appear will still be random but based on your Sleep Type and Snorlax Rating.
Once you get to Friendship level 10, which you achieve by befriending 9 of the same species of Pokemon, you may notice some consistent improvements to the Pokemon you befriend.
Friendship level 10 guarantees that the first sub skill of the Pokemon will be gold. The sub skill itself will still be random, but it will be guaranteed to be one of the most valuable sub skills.
Skill | Effect |
---|---|
Dream Shard Bonus | Boosts the number of Dream Shards you earn from sleep research by 6%. |
Berry Finding S | Increases the number of Berries this Pokemon finds at one time by 1. |
Helping Bonus | Allows team members to help 5% faster. |
Research EXP Bonus | Boosts the EXP you earn from performing sleep research by 6%. |
Skill Level Up M | Boosts the level of this Pokemon's main skill by 2. |
Energy Recovery Bonus | Multiplies the Energy the team recovers from sleep sessions by 1.12. |
Sleep EXP Bonus | Boosts the EXP earned by the team after sleep sessions by 14%. |
All Pokemon with Friendship level 10 or higher will have one of these skills as their first sub skill.
It's possible that an even higher Friendship level will guarantee the second sub skill to be gold as well. However, we currently do not know which level this next friendship level milestone is.
List of All Skills and Effects
It seems as though catching more of the same Pokemon increases the base level you can befriend them at. However, this does not appear to be a 1-to-1 level increase, and you may occasionally befriend Pokemon at a lower level than the last of the same species you've befriended.
The lowest level you can find a Pokemon at does appear to get higher as its Friendship level and your research rank increase.
In order to raise a Pokemon's Friendship level, you must befriend another of that Pokemon. Each Pokemon you befriend increases that species' Friendship level by one.
Evolving a Pokemon does not increase the Friendship level of the evolved form. You must catch the Pokemon directly using Biscuits in order to increase Friendship level.
Biscuit | Friendship Points | FP When Hungry |
---|---|---|
Poke Biscuit | +1 | +3 |
Great Biscuit | +3 | +9 |
Bonus Biscuit | +3 | +9 |
Premium Bonus Biscuit* | +4 | +12 |
Master Biscuit | Max Friendship | Max Friendship |
*Only for Premium Pass holders
List of All Biscuits and How to Get Them
Sometimes there will be Pokemon who are marked as Hungry during Snack Time. Feeding a Hungry Pokemon will result in a Big Hit, multiply the Friendship Points of any Biscuit you give by 3.
There is also a small chance for Friendship Points to be maxed out automatically when you feed a Hungry Pokemon.
Any Biscuit can have the same effect as feeding Hungry Pokemon if you're lucky enough.
When giving a Biscuit to a Pokemon that is not hungry, you still have a small chance for a Biscuit to be a Big Hit, which multiplies the Biscuit's Friendship Points by 3. You also have an even smaller chance for a Biscuit to be a Mega Hit, which will give a Pokemon maximum Friendship Points.
The exact odds for a Big Hit and Mega Hit are currently unknown, but it's good to know that you always have a chance to befriend Pokemon—even the ones with a seemingly unachievable Friendship Point requirement—immediately.
Shiny Pokemon will always be Hungry, and even a single Poke Biscuit will always max out their Friendsip Points.
Pokemon showing 11 as their Friendship level on their Friendship gauge will also automatically be befriended with a single Biscuit.
